Well, it's 11:45 on Saturday night and I finished the vests I knitted for the twins for their Wednesday birthday. I'm thinking if I get their package in the mail early Monday morning it should arrive by Wednesday.
The pattern is the Pebble Vest found on raverly. It is written for an infant, but I've been texting with their current nanny for measurements, then adjusting the pattern to (hopefully) fit them perfectly. I also seamed both shoulders and only used buttons up the side instead of at one shoulder too. I knitted in worsted weight instead of DK, as well as using a larger (size 8) needle. The yarn I used is Taria Tweed by Plymouth (40% merino wool. 30% llama, 30% silk) and I am in love with this yarn. It's very rich with subtle color in person. The natural shell buttons just seemed to compliment the rustic nub of the yarn perfectly for my taste. I love sweet little children's garments with a funky natural essence to them. Like little woodland sprites!
So tomorrow it's the finishing of the crowns and one more little surprise I have up my sleeve (Autumn pillowcases for their new toddler big kid beds) and I'm ready for the post office!
OK-already, now it's bedtime. I know. G'night!
They are beyond precious.... :D
