There is this restaurant that I've heard about for some time, but just experienced it for the first time a couple of months ago. It began as a raw food place but now serves cooked dishes as well. There is one in the city, and also one right up the road from where I work.
On the menu is The Gratitude Bowl. It is my favorite, all-in-one wholesome dish. It's what I always order. The tahini sauce speaks to me. ;) mmmmm the garlicy goodness. But this bowl is an offering of community goodness as well. It is a bowl of caring and love. It is meant to assure that even those who cannot afford it can have one square meal a day. The menu reads:
I AM GRATEFUL
Our community supported grain bowl. Shredded kale with local brown rice, black beans and tahinigarlic sauce. We created this bowl to allow for those in financial need to have access to organic vegan food.
Payment is by donation. No one is turned away.
Suggested value is 7. Minimum set price for togo is 7.
Feed yourself and someone in need 14 or more.
Not only does this sound delish, i love the whole concept of no one being turned away & payment is by donation. And of course, the name is the coolest. Very cute.
